ZOOM JEWELLERY EXHIBITION
During the 2020, we have had many virtual meetings and used the power of art jewelry to get people react. Some people work with backgrounds and lipsticks to get a more fun and attractive web image, but what works better than a cool piece of jewelry?
Jewelry embodies what we value and where we belong, capturing our long-held lifetime identities and our ever-shifting understanding of who we are. Putting on a piece of jewelry, we decide who we feel like being and how we wanna present ourselves to the world each day. It allows us to claim selfhood and individualism while also signaling that we belong somewhere.
We curate our aesthetic personas in the URL, and we can bridge the gap to the physical and achieve self-actualization IRL through jewelry.
There’s an aesthetic zeitgeist that’s come from digital media, some of it residing in kinda 90s nostalgia and subcultures. It feels refreshing and new and also kinda familiar. Imagery and symbols evolve over time as we continue to copy and make new and copy again. It’s like the phenomenon of JPEG artifacts, the ones you get when you see the like 5000th screen shot iteration of a meme and it gets deep fried and looks all weird and fucked up but you can still tell what it is and where it came from it just takes on a whole new vibe and sometimes it makes it better and kinda makes it new. So yeah, the same goes for evolving trends and images and shit, and that’s evident in the jewelry in Fotocopy./ Kellie Riggs
My contribution to Fotocopy season 3 was made possible with the support from Konstnärsnämden.
Taking part in the conference “Digital meet Handmade” organized by FIT (Fashion institute of technology) in New York and Politecnico di Milan. A three days of discussion surrounding jewelry design and manufacturing. There has been a seismic shift in jewelry design and manufacturing in recent years. As digital design and model making have speeded up the process, they have proven themselves invaluable as tools of the trade. But every tool, hand-held or digital—leaves its mark. This symposium will provide an arena for debate on how digital technology and making by hand duel for influence in the aesthetics, the use, and the cultural contexts of jewelry as both a manufactured product and as an applied art form.
The discussion will not only be oriented to the outcome of different crafting procedures, but it is intended to propose reflection on the production and distribution processes for jewelry. The implications “digital vs handmade" in social context will be explored. The question of how the integration of digital technology effects sustainability will be examined—both in manufacturing, and in how if effects the perceived value of the jewelry—monetarily and as art. And finally, the symposium is intended to foster debate and research in the didactics of jewelry as an applied art, through of critical analysis and discovery.

HD L3i$ur3
“HD L3I$UR3” is the third installment between an ongoing collaboration of the contemporary jewelers Annika Pettersson, Florian Milker, and Adam Grinovich. The project, initially titled “HD-Treasure” began as a coming together of the three artists to ideate the central theme of the Zimmerhof symposium in 2016 in Bad Rappanau, Germany.
The theme “HD-Treasure” was a playful look at contemporary digital culture, social media, space travel, and technological nostalgia. A survey into contemporary cultures insatiable need for higher definition mediums in an increasingly complex and layered digital environment. A question to a field of highly skilled craft creatives: How do we locate the precious and how has this definition changed with the new resources around us?
I had the fortune to organize the HD_treasure that took place during MJW2017
The theme for exhibition was based on “HD_treasure” or “High definition treasure”. The theme explores contemporary aesthetics with classic theme of the secret and precious. We enter this theme through the perspective of remix-culture, the agreement that everything has been done. But we are not satisfied with this assumption. We strive to discover the unique in emerging forms of expression.
“HD” was a term, a term present n everyday life from the smartphones that we keep on our pockets, to the advertisements we see on public transportation, as well as in fine art installations and videos. HD the dominant aesthetic in contemporary life. HD_treasure assembles a group of artist both working for and against this new paradigm, attempting to see the treasure through the lens of a means of expression still yet to be fully defined.

The dinner event itself is takes part in a public space and is seen as a performance.

I am happy to have been selected for the Schmuck exhibition 2017. t
“Schmuck” was founded in 1959 by Dr. Herbert Hofmann. It is the earliest exhibition of contemporary jewelry world wide. Since 1973 has the Herbert-Hofmann-Price been presented during the event. The management lies with the Benno and Therese Dannersche Kunstgewerbe Stiftung, Munich. The exhibition is sponsored by the Bavarian state ministry for economics and media, energy and technology.
Exhibition at Platina, 11th march to 30 April 2016. together with Adam Grinovich.
“Strålkastare” isa concept developed by Annika Pettersson and Adam Grinovich that expresses a fascination in the spectacle of light. It ties the two artists work together by presenting to distinct expressions underneath a series of engineered lighting scenarios. Inspiration was drawn from the transformative power of light, how, for an example, a nightclub or concert can express power and energy with the simple act of manipulating light and focus.
“Strålkastare” consumes the viewer entirely, demanding a full attention to the dynamic expression of light on objects that reveal themselves of patterns and sequence. The exhibition, in essence embodies its title to illustrate the sublime elements of each artist work.
